A career in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Towards the end of my high school life, I could see all roads leading me to Journalism and Mass communication. Much as I was a good writer, for I had had a number of my articles feature in the school magazine, and I had been selected as an editor too, I didn’t want to become a journalist and I had never heard anything like an 18-year-old novelist.
In brief, I ended up opting for a bachelor’s in Information Technology instead of Journalism and Mass Communication because there was much hype generated around doing IT and Journalism and Mass Communication had nothing said about it.
Five years down the road, I have re-enrolled at UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication with plan of majoring in marketing and PR. Not that I have found my IT degree entirely useless. It has actually been very essential in my quest to become a great digital marketer.
I remember we had career guidance teachers back in high school. I keep wondering why they didn’t guide me to have just an ounce of the career knowledge I have garnered in my five years of mitigating the real career world. Anyway, I don’t blame them any more or less.
