UMCAT Alumni Association Gets New Leadership

 

 

UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication old students association on Friday 07th July 2023 held an extraordinary meeting that saw a new leadership take on fresh roles.

The event down at the institution in Bukesa, Kampala where different old students gathered in Large numbers to reunite and deliberate on the way forward.

UMCAT is registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports under number PVS/U/13 and recognized by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) under operating certificate No. PLOO43. From 1996, UMCAT has been producing media personalities in different disciplines of Broadcast, Online, Print and Public Relations.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Kagenyi Daniel the founding Principal hailed the current leadership for keeping the candle burning for over 27 years.

Kagenyi however challenged the congregation to embrace technology and innovation in the Media world.

“The world is becoming selfish and so competitive. There is need to shift our paradigm so we can survive in fast changing economy.” He said.

Charles Ogwel, the UMCAT director described the session as a great in the history of institution that gives an opportunity to unite and remember efforts of a formidable force.

“Seeing old students from the class if 1996 – 2023, is more than a previlage, I can now say that the team has done something remarkable towards transforming our great country and region at large.” Ogwel said.

Robert Ssempala, the Human Rights Network for Journalists (HRNJ) Executive Director who doubled as the guest of honor, hailed the outgoing association leadership for doing a great job.

He noted that associations are powerful entities that come a long with opportunities and other unseen benefits.

“It is very important to belong to an association and I know with this, we shall be able to do greater things.” Ssempala said.
