UMCAT School Of Journalism and Mass Communication Shines Into The Next Round Of The National Newsroom Contest.

The National Newsroom Contest is an inter-university mass media challenge program organized and hosted by Media Challenge Initiative, an NGO that focuses on empowering media personnel with practical skills and inspiring the production of life-changing content in the mass media industry.

UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication battled it out with Uganda Martyr’s University Nkozi campus, Uganda Christian University, one of the A-list universities in Uganda, and Multitech Business School, their close neighbor.

The presentation involved a daily show, a feature story, and a news bulletin. All schools were amazing. They all did a terrific job. You could spot actual budding talents in various mass media fields like show hosting, production, new anchoring, and writers.

But in a special way, UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication wowed everyone. It was close to flawlessness. They didn’t experience any technical difficulties that the rest of the teams did, I guess this success is partly attributed to the fact that the team has a superb communication and multi-media foundation.

Where other teams struggled with breathing and dead air, one could only feel the authenticity and ingenuity in the way the UMCAT girl anchored the news, the way the UMCAT main presenter of the show directed and led his co-hosts. The way their producers had things under control highlights their excellent interdependence and great teamwork in preparation.

But at the end of the day, it was nice watching young people sharpen their skills and gear up for real-life careers in the media world. Events like these not only help young people stand firm, but they also provide an opportunity for them to be spotted by media houses looking for fresh talents.

I, therefore, give it up to Media Challenge Initiative for creating this empowering, confidence-building competition, and to UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication and Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi who outshined your competitors, we wish you all the best in the rounds to come.
